IAB-IIW Qualifications

iiw The Welding Faculty is licensed as Approved Training Body (ATB, license No ANB-UA-ATB-01) for the education of welding personnel with responsibility according to the International Institute of Welding Guideline IAB-252 "Personnel with Qualification for Welding Coordination".

IAB-IIW Qualification levels include:

Please take into consideration that the NTUU “KPI” International Office does not provide visa support for those who attend the IIW courses only.

IIW-IAB diploma holders can now apply for the same qualification level in the European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting personnel qualification system, the relevant EWF qualification being granted without additional training and examinations.

International Welding Engineer

Qualification awarded: International Welding Engineer (IWE)
Duration: 6 months (short program, part. time), 1 year (full program, part. time)
Teaching languages available: Russian
Entry requirements: At least bachelor degree in welding, applied physics, metallurgy, foundry engineering, materials technology, applied mechanics, engineering mechanics machinery, power engineering, power machinery, electrotechnics, electromechanics, aircraft and rocket building, aircraft leads and powerplants, shipbuilding, civil construction. Experience in welding production is also taken into consideration (see also IAB-252, latest edition).
Graduates of the Welding Faculty are allowed to follow the short program.

IWE course program


International Welding Technologist

Qualification awarded: International Welding Technologist (IWT)
Teaching languages available: Russian
Entry requirements: Technical education (diploma from technical school) in a field of welding, metallurgy, materials science, mechanics, materials processing, power engineering and machinery, electrotechnics, electromechanics, aircraft building, shipbuilding, civil construction. Experience in welding production is also taken into consideration (see also IAB-252, latest edition).
Graduates of the Welding Faculty and integrated program students are allowed to follow the short program.


International Welding Specialist

Qualification awarded: International Welding Specialist (IWS)
Teaching languages available: Russian
Entry requirements: Vocational technical education (diploma from vocational technical school) in a field of welding, metallurgy, materials science, mechanics, materials processing, power engineering and machinery, electrotechnics, electromechanics, aircraft building, shipbuilding, civil construction with 2 years of practice. Experience in welding production is also taken into consideration (see also IAB-252, latest edition).
Currently the course is available on basis of the Paton Welding Institute Training and Qualification Centre (PWI TQC).


International Welding Practitioner

Qualification awarded: International Welding Practitioner (IWP)
Teaching languages available: Russian
Entry requirements: Vocational technical education (diploma from vocational technical school) in a field of welding, welder’s certificate according to ISO 9606 with 2 years of practice. Experience in welding production is also taken into consideration (see also IAB-252, latest edition).
Currently the course is available on basis of the Paton Welding Institute Training and Qualification Centre (PWI TQC).


International Welding Inspector
Comprehensive, Standard and Basic level

Qualification awarded: International Welding Inspector, Comprehensive Level (IWI-C)
Teaching languages available: Russian
Entry requirements: Technical education (diploma from technical school) in a field of welding, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or metallurgy. Experience in a field of inspection in welding and IIW valid diplomas of IWE/ IWT are also taken into consideration (see also IAB-041, latest edition).
Currently the course is available on basis of the Paton Welding Institute Training and Qualification Centre (PWI TQC).

Qualification awarded: International Welding Inspector, Standard Level (IWI-S)
Teaching languages available: Russian
Entry requirements: Vocational technical education (diploma from vocational technical school) in a field of welding, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or metallurgy with 2 years of practice. Experience in a field of inspection in welding and IIW valid diplomas of IWE/ IWT/ IWS are also taken into consideration (see also IAB-041, latest edition).

Qualification awarded: International Welding Inspector, Basic Level (IWI-B)
Teaching languages available: Russian
Entry requirements: Vocational technical education (diploma from vocational technical school) with 2 years of practice. Experience in a field of inspection in welding and IIW valid diplomas of IWE/ IWT/ IWS/ IWP are also taken into consideration (see also IAB-041, latest edition).
Currently the course is available on basis of the Paton Welding Institute Training and Qualification Centre (PWI TQC).


International Welder

Qualification awarded: International Welder (Fillet Welds, Plate Welding, Tube Welding; available processes: MMA, MIG/MAG, TIG, Gas welding)
Teaching languages available: Russian
Entry requirements: Physical ability to perform welding; valid Welder's Certificates and work experience are also taken into consideration (see also IAB-089, latest edition).
