Soldagem MIG/MAG: melhor entendimento, melhor desempenho/ Americo Scotti, Vladimir Ponomarev. – SanPaulo: Artliber Editora, 2008

Soldagem MIG/MAG (MIG/MAG Welding) tutorial contains detailed information about MIG/MAG welding processes with the results of recent research studies. It offers theoretical and practical tips of day-to-day use of welding, gives a description modern of equipment and devices, shows applications of different versions of the process.
It's common sense that a country is really developing when the technology used is under professional control. But these professionals do not always understand that the processes under their responsibility make companies more up-to-date. This book attempts to seek the path of real development through a better understanding how to achieve the best performance of the MIG / MAG (with concepts extend to other arc welding processes). It presents various practical aspects of day-to-day use of welding, gives description equipment operating, it also seeks to provide some theoretical foundations for better understanding of the process by a common user, such as process stability, parameters adjustment, etc.
The book differs from other welding tutorials. It doesn’t just shoe the problem, but also some practical means and tools of solving it. This book is a kind of challenge for those who really believe that better performance can be achieved only through better understanding.
The book will be useful for all kinds of professionals – no matter what training level they have.

Makhnenko V. I., Kvasnitsky V. V. and Ermolaev G. V. Effect of physical-mechanical properties of the materials joined and geometry of the parts on distribution of stresses during diffusion bonding in vacuum // Paton Welding Journal. – 2008. – № 1. – Р. 2

The method of computer modelling based on FEM was used to study the stress-strain state of cylindrical parts in diffusion bonding. It is shown that the complex stressed state with a non-uniform distribution of stresses is formed over the surface of a bond in joining even simple parts from dissimilar materials. It is established that thermal cycling is indicated to localise plastic strains within the bond zone in joints with different values of linear temperature expansion coefficient.

The model is suggested for training of a bachelor-welder on the basis of a package of applied programs «Navigator», which ensures possibility of remote training in welding and relative technologies.

Korzh V. N. and Popil Yu. S. Adjustment of thermal power of hydrogen-oxygen flame at flame treatment // Paton Welding Journal. – 2008. – № 2. – Р. 35

The effect of composition and character of flow of a combustible mixture on variation in thermal power of the flame is considered when using the hydrogen-oxygen flame formed as a result of combustion of a mixture produced by water-electrolysis generators. Thermal power of the flame produced in combustion of a pure hydrogen-oxygen mixture and mixture with additions of hydrocarbon compounds has been determined.

Grigorenko G. M., Kostin V. A. and Orlovsky V. Yu. Current capabilities of simulation of austenite transformations in low-alloyed steel welds // Paton Welding Journal. – 2008. – № 3. – Р. 22

Mathematical models describing the CCT and TTT diagrams plotted for the welds on low-alloyed steels are analyzed with a purpose of their possible experimental verification in “Gleeble-3800” system for physical simulation of metal welding and heat treatment process.

Makhnenko V. I., Kvasnitsky V. V. and Ermolaev G. V. Stress-strain state of diffusion bonds between metals with different physical-mechanical properties // Paton Welding Journal. – 2008. – № 8. – Р. 2

Regularities were established in the effect exerted by plastic strains on formation of the stress-strain state in diffusion bonding of pieces of dissimilar materials in the form of cylinders and sleeves under compression and variable temperature conditions. It is shown that the lowest level of plastic strains and their unfavourable distributions along the axis of cylinders and sleeves take place in bonding of materials under compression and constant temperature conditions.
